An der schönen blauen Donau
Øivind Hånes
It all boiled down to a question of margarine. Claus Peter Mahler owns a margarine factory in the small German town Langenberg. The factory has made him wealthy, but it is also a double-edged sword. Whenever he happens to have a conversation with strangers he can’t help noticing their reactions when they hear what he does for a living. People don’t take him seriously, and they don’t include him in their social circles. When he turns 50, he decides that he needs a change of course. To give himself a chance to think things through, he goes on a 12 day cruise on the Danube and through ten countries to where the river spills out into the Black Sea. On the boat he meets a former actress Katarina, a woman who will bring about great changes in his life.
