The unruly artist Mogens Lasson is preparing an exhibition. His works lie in the upper price range, and the gallery owner sees the exhibition as a last chance to save his gallery from bankruptcy. But other, wealthier investors are also interested in the artist. At his stately family home, a farm in Lommedalen outside of Oslo, the artist puts the finishing touches to the exhibition’s main work. His slits his arms with a razor and lets the blood pour onto the canvas. His family are shocked. But worse things are about to happen, when the show opens. And soon police detectives Brede Monsen and Rikke Lindstad will be called upon to investigate a murder: Mogens Lassen has been found dead in his studio. An elderly woman lying next to him has been knocked unconscious.
